Mark 2:23-3:6

The New Testament only records one case of direct anger of Jesus. It occurs in Mark 2:23-3:6. He was angry when the Temple authorities prevented people from living out necessary duties on the Sabbath.

Mark is an early account before the fall of the Temple. Jesus taught by word and example that imposed religious rules must always pass the test of love. Jesus healed a man with a withered hand on the Sabbath and in the Temple to make his point.

Our home rules, state rules and church rules must always pass this same test. By extension, so must our actions, decisions and outreach must pass the same test.

It is open to all of us to call upon the Holy Spirit to give us courage and insight to amend our lives and actions. God is always present with us on our ever-learning life journey.
