Isiah 43: 16-21 // Philippans 3: 4b-14 // John 12: 1-8

Today, in Philippians 3:-13, one of the original seven epistles of Paul, he says "Beloved, I do not consider that I have made it my own; but this one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead....." He is acknowledging his mortality  but also his hope for the future and the present. He doing what Jesus did in today's Gospel experienced Dying before he Dies. Jesus anointing by Mary is pivotal in the road to Jerusalem as we approach the cross. Mary was giving Jesus an intimate act of love through the act of letting down her hair and anointing Jesus.

The anointing also marks a reality that all of us face, our own certain death and in God's love a transition to another experience. It is important to take this reality seriously and prepare for it. We all experience the truth of Jesus experience-Dying before we Die. It is difficult to make a will, get a living will in place. Also consider a power of attorney and make it to be inter generational.

Today is Green Shirt Day. We are invited to consider giving authority to have our organs harvested so that others will live on after us. It is an age of miracles. We can contribute to the miracles of life made possible through medicine.

While facing death is never comfortable, we have courage through God's love. As we prepare to leave this mortal life, I pray we do so in a way that is responsible and orderly. In our wills lets consider the needs of family, friends and organizations that are important to us.
